Heather started her training at the late age of 11 years but, with natural talent, hard work and determination, by the time she was 15 years old Heather had become the East Midlands Ballet Champion, Achieved Honours in Advanced 2 Modern, Highly Commended in Advance 1 Tap and been awarded a full 3-year scholarship to the Northern Ballet School, Manchester.
During her 3 years at NBS Heather performed with Manchester City Ballet and the Jazz Galore Company. She also passed her Advanced 1 RAD Ballet with Honours and left with an NQF level 4 (now revised to level 6 equivalent).
Heather then taught for Staples school of dance for 2 years, teaching ISTD syllabus, dance technique and choreographing for shows and festival performances. She kept her training up and passed Advanced 1 ISTD Ballet with Honours.
Heather went on to work at Portland School in Worksop, she could not stop her love of dance and wanting to share her passion with the students, resulting in her leading many dance clubs which then developed to assisting in the creating and setting up of a dance department for both Key stage 3 and 4.
When Heather moved to the Elizabethan High School Retford her passion for dance led to her teaching both GCSE and BTEC Dance. She was keen to keep up to date with her training completing many courses.
Heather was Head of Dance at Performance Hub Theatre School for over 7 years. During these years Heather instigated midweek syllabus technique classes in Ballet, Modern and Tap. She also choreographed for shows and competitions.
Heather is passionate that all students should experience high quality dance teaching therefore, alongside completing her DDE with the ISTD where she has gained one of the highest grades in the country, she has enjoyed teaching in local primary schools, giving all students a chance to enjoy the freedom dance can bring. Heather also guest lectures for local secondary schools which has developed into teaching post 16 students units for their performing arts courses. She has also been asked to choreograph their school shows.
Providing dance tuition to all ages and abilities has always been a life goal for Heather.
She is passionate that everyone should have the opportunity to take part in high quality dance lessons. She is always keen to learn new skills and dance styles to keep her students training up-to-date, she has therefore currently completing her Acro training with Acrotrix.
'With over 20 years of teaching experience I now feel the time is right to expand my dance business and start my own school. I am very excited to be able to expand my creative ideas and looking forward to seeing my dance family grow. '
